About Edit PDF Metadata

Every PDF carries a hidden ID card: title, author, subject, keywords, and the software that created it. Search engines index it, file managers display it, and it often says more than you intend — real names in the Author field, draft titles from months ago, or the tool someone used at a previous job. This editor shows exactly what your PDF declares about itself and lets you correct it, complete it, or wipe it clean before the file goes anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs inside your browser — your file is read from your device, processed in memory, and never sent to a server.
Does clearing metadata make a PDF anonymous?
It removes the document-information fields, which is what most viewers and search engines read. Note that content-level traces (text on pages, embedded XMP, annotations) are separate — check the document itself too.
Why does Producer sometimes come back?
Some tools rewrite the Producer field whenever they save a PDF — that's the field describing the generating software. This editor writes exactly what you type, including an empty value.
