Norwegian Calculators
Calculators for Norwegian rates and conventions. Late payment interest and mileage allowance use rates the state sets and changes on fixed dates, and each shows which rate it used, the period that rate covers and a link to the official source — so you can check the arithmetic yourself. Alongside them: percentages, hourly wage to monthly and annual pay, and the week number for any date. Everything is calculated in your browser: amounts, dates and kilometres are never sent to a server.
Which calculator to use
The late payment interest calculator is for a claim that was paid late or is still unpaid. Enter the amount, the due date and the payment date, and the interest is worked out half-year by half-year at the statutory rate, or at a rate you agreed. Partial payments can be added too. Standard compensation for collection costs can only be claimed when the debtor is a business, a public authority or another legal entity — never a consumer.
The mileage allowance calculator splits an allowance for business driving into its tax-free and taxable parts, for cars (electric cars get the same rate) and other vehicles, with supplements for passengers, forest and construction roads, and trailers. Log trip by trip to download the list as a CSV for your travel expense claim, or use your employer's own rate. Driving to and from your regular workplace isn't business driving.
The hourly wage calculator converts between hourly, monthly and annual pay before tax. It assumes a 37.5-hour week, or 1,950 hours a year, unless you enter your own hours; it can add overtime, and leaves out tax and holiday pay. The percentage calculator covers the four everyday sums and shows the formula: a rise from 80 to 100 is 25%, but the fall back is 20%. Week numbers follow ISO 8601, so the days around New Year can belong to the neighbouring year. The calendar shows a whole year with week numbers and Norwegian public holidays, and prints as a PDF.
Why the date on a rate matters
The rates these calculators use change on fixed dates: late payment interest on 1 January and 1 July, the state's per-kilometre rates on 1 January. A calculator that doesn't say which rate it used is impossible to check — and one that hasn't been updated looks exactly like one that has. That's why every page shows the rate, the period it applies to, and the date the rates were last checked against the source.
The calculations are indicative. If in doubt, the official rates and rules apply, and the links to the sources are on each calculator so you can go straight to them.
